Help with Gao Browser.

Toii Social LLCsupport@gao.global

Gao Browser is a native browser for iOS and Android made for the Gao Internet. This page explains how it behaves, what its messages mean, and how to reach the team. It is written from the product as built. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are the legal documents that govern Gao Browser.

In internal testing

Read this first. Gao Browser is a web browser. It contains no wallet, holds no keys and cannot sign. Toii Social LLC cannot access, recover or reverse anything in a wallet you connect through it: every approval happens inside your own wallet app. If anyone — including someone claiming to represent Gao Browser or Toii Social LLC — asks for your recovery phrase or private keys, it is a scam. We will never ask for them.

Using the browser

Addresses and names

Type a web address, a search, or a .gao name. .gao names are resolved through Gao ID, and only a validated https destination is opened. .eth, .sol, .bnb and .arb names open through public gateways. Searches go to DuckDuckGo.

Tabs, history, bookmarks

Up to ten tabs are kept; opening more closes the oldest. Tabs, history and bookmarks are stored on the device and restored when you relaunch.

Downloads

Files are saved, never opened automatically, and given safe names. On iOS they live inside Gao Browser until you export them with the Files picker from the Downloads row. On Android they go to the system Downloads collection. Cancelling a download leaves nothing behind.

Uploads and dialogs

Web forms open the system file picker, with multiple selection on Android. Alerts, confirms and prompts are shown by the browser with the site's address as the title, so a page cannot pretend to be the app.

Permissions

Camera, microphone, location and wallet access are asked per site and only on secure connections. The system asks as well the first time. Decisions are kept in the site settings sheet and can be changed there.

Wallets

Gao Browser contains no wallet and cannot sign. A site's own connect button starts a WalletConnect session with a wallet app you already have; every signature is approved inside that wallet. Gao Browser only shows a site a wallet provider after you allow it for that site.

When something fails

"This .gao name is not registered"
The name has no owner yet. Check the spelling, or register it at gao.domains.
"Could not reach the Gao name resolver" or "Could not resolve this .gao name"
The browser could not reach Gao ID, or Gao ID answered with an error. Check your connection and try again shortly; ordinary web addresses keep working meanwhile.
"No website configured yet" or "Gao sovereign storage site detected"
The name exists but does not point to a website Gao Browser can open today. Only https destinations are loaded; sovereign content is shown as a card, not rendered.
A secure connection could not be made
The site's certificate did not validate. Gao Browser does not offer a way to continue anyway; "Try again" re-checks from scratch. If it keeps failing, the site's certificate needs fixing by the site owner.
Offline, DNS or timeout messages
Shown inside the tab with Try again, Go back and Home. They describe the network, not the app.
A wallet does not open, or does not come back
A WalletConnect-compatible wallet app must be installed. Opening it requires a real tap in the site and happens once per connection. If the wallet does not bring you back automatically, switch back to Gao Browser; the session continues over the WalletConnect relay.
A download shows "Starting…" for a long time on Android
The transfer is waiting to retry after a network interruption. Cancel to remove it, or wait for the connection to return.
The camera or microphone does not work on a site
Both the site permission in Gao Browser and the system permission must be allowed. Check the site settings sheet, then the system settings for Gao Browser.

What the app does with data

  • There are no accounts and no sign-in. The app itself sends nothing to Gao about your browsing.
  • The app contacts Gao ID only to resolve a .gao name you typed and to refresh the ecosystem list; it contacts the WalletConnect relay only during a wallet connection you started.
  • Tabs, history, bookmarks, downloads and per-site permissions are stored on your device.
  • There is no analytics, crash reporting or advertising in the app, and none on this website.
  • The Privacy Policy lists every destination the app contacts, what each receives, and what stays on your device. The Terms of Service govern your use of Gao Browser.
